About Lauren McCall, LPC
I’m here to help you find peace.
I’m a licensed professional counselor passionate about helping clients work through anxiety, grief, and trauma. I have nearly 15 years of experience helping survivors of sexual and domestic violence in community mental health, non-profit, and private practice settings in Northern Virginia and D.C. I also have significant experience helping clients work through various life transitions and stressors. My approach is person-centered and I often utilize EMDR, cognitive behavioral, and psychodynamic approaches. I have an undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College, and a graduate degree in Counseling & Development from George Mason University. Additionally, I’m a mom of two kids, and am familiar with some of the unique challenges parents and adolescents face in this high-pressure area.
How I work:
The core of my approach to therapy is a belief in the strength and resiliency that every person is capable of.
If you are hurt or grieving, struggling with anxious thoughts, overwhelmed by life, or just feeling stuck, it is easy to lose sight of this. Together we can create a plan to enact lasting and meaningful change. I use evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities to help clients begin to understand the root of their emotional distress, change negative thinking patterns, and ultimately find peace and healing.
Therapy with me is…
-
Above all else, I create a space of compassion, where clients are free to explore their experiences, identity, and emotions in safety and without judgment.
-
You are the expert on your story and likely have a keen sense of what has been helpful - as well as what hasn’t been. We’ll work collaboratively throughout the therapeutic process to ensure that treatment is aligned with your goals.
-
I want you to see results. I rely on evidence-based modalities and interventions to help you reach your goals. You deserve not only a safe space, but a space that fosters measurable growth and healing.

Change isn’t easy (even when it’s “good”).
Making the decision to start therapy can feel scary or overwhelming - after all change is hard, and you’ve been managing so far. But you deserve more than just white-knuckling it through life; healing and growth is possible. Change may not be easy, but is so often worth it.
